The rapid pace of our sessions serves a very important purpose: maximize learning opportunities so that our learners can achieve fluency.
This learner has achieved fluency in our core Math Curriculum, which includes numeracy, basic computation, fractions, and decimals skills. His core math fluency enables him to expertly solve more complex math operations, such as long division!
Expertise is learned
The learner in the video above has acquired expertise in mathematics. By providing him with effective instruction and explicit practice opportunities, he achieved fluency in essential core math skills such as:
- Reading numbers
- Identifying place value
- Bidirectional skip counting by multiples of 2 – 12
- Recalling basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts
- Understanding and executing fractions concepts
- Understanding and executing decimals concepts
Without fluency in core math skills, learners cannot solve higher-level operations.
